update from my life

Nobody asked for it but I want to since this is the reason why I’ve been away for the last 10 months. And i always do this kind of thing anyway (i checked my archive, i do.)

Those who followed me from the start might already know this but before gyapo i was a shut-in. I moved alone in a new country, didn’t like my studies, stayed at home on the internet. Then i started theme making, from there I found my path, webdesign, enrolled  into an art school, spent a marvellous year and there i discovered fashion design.

Now I’m in a fashion school, will be a 2nd year in september. These months may have been the greatest time of my life so far, I had 0 knowledge of fashion, let alone sewing (even a button), 0 working experience,…but I worked really hard. The year I spent in art school isn’t even half of the hardwork I put into this year of fashion school, staying at school until late at night, sometimes the weekends… and it paid off, shool is doing really fine, I was able to be a dresser for designers I could only dream to meet, I worked for the first time in my life (and got paid), I have social life, I can sew a button haha.

Anyway, I went from a shut-in to an active fashion student and I believe the “success” Gyapo was the trigger to that.

Thank you.

Anonymous said: when you make a new theme, do you code everything new? i mean body and all kinds of posts, .. because I make some themes as well and I usually copy an old theme and change everything until it looks like I want it. or shouldn't I do it that way?

Hello,

I always start from scratch. I think it’s better to do so in order to improve your skills and to avoid being repetitive in your layouts. Anyway, for me, my coding is too messy to do it your way (all hail the users able to tweak my codes haha)

Truth to be told, I should recode 75% of my themes because I made them when i just started coding ( i released 2 themes a week back then hahaha) so they are very heavily coded with a lot of unecessary lines OTL

But I have 50+ themes so…

Anonymous said: How or where do you learn the scripts and stuff you often use in your themes? Any good recs for places where we can learn too? :3 Thanks in advance!

Hello,

I rarely use scripts because I can’t use javascript yet. the only one i used so far is the one for mutli colum posts, masonry. Using Ans’ (ettudis) tutorials : I & II

The rest is me playing around with css & html until I can use jquery :) And well, when people ask me to, I release the codes I came up with -as glitchy as they can be haha-

Happy New Year

At first I just wanted to wish you all an happy new year but then i realised that the first year anniversary of Gyapo is very close by, the 7th of January. Unfortunately, that will be the week for my finals as well, but it may not be just a coincidence, since this blog, the start of this blog, is what lead me to the school I’m studying in right now :)

Anonymous said: How do you test your tumblr themes? Do you have a separate page dedicated to testing? Or is there software?

Hello, I got a sideblog that I use to test my codes, or I just gradually add test posts to the live preview while coding it, or I just it’s a theme that I created for my main account and i decide to share it here, after some days usually…so there isn’t really a need to test them anymore haha

Anonymous said: I'm very curious, but what's your typing speed?

Hello, umh, i would say that I type pretty quickly, and I type more quickly in french but I more easily make typo errors OTL.

When coding, i keep the same pace without doing typos mistakes, nor do I forget to close ” or ; or } or </>, but it took me some time OTL…except for “Background” and “Description” that I keep making errors haha.

hidekari said: hello :) i love your themes~ especially dark beater, baka diary and menma! ^.^ where do you get inspiration for your theme? they're all so unique and nice. :3

Hello :)

I mainly get inspiration from music, there are just songs that give me a certain feeling, then I want to transpose that feeling into a concept/atmosphere/layout design :D

The ones you prefer are inspired by Animes : Sword Art Online, Eureka 7, Ano Hana. I just took a sheet of paper, my favourite pencil (I have it for years omg, a bic matic 0.7), I listen to the OP/ED/OST and just start sketching :D
